SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- A big increase in the number of athletes expected to stay at the Olympic village means some athletes may have to share rooms after their events are over.
John Coates, president of the Australian Olympic Committee, said Tuesday that officials expect 10,960 athletes and coaches to stay in the village. A month ago, only 10,480 had been expected.
Coates said no athletes will be expected to share rooms before they have competed.
