Rowers float through in Zurich
ZURICH -- (CP-AP) Olympic-bound rowers advanced to the semi-finals of the
Zurich Rowing World Cup yesterday.
World champions Emma Robinson of Winnipeg and Theresa Luke of 100 Mile
House, B.C., won their heat in women's pairs in seven minutes 45.59 seconds,
advancing to semi-finals today.
Kubet Weston of Tillsonburg, Ont., and Kristen Wall of Victoria were third
in 7:50.95 and also advanced to the semi-finals.
Singles sculler Derek Porter of Victoria won his heat in 7:36.59.
The lightweight men's four of Iain Brambell of Brentwood Bay, B.C., Chris
Davidson of Oakville, Gavin Hassett of Victoria and Jon Beare of Toronto
advanced after winning their heat in 6:18.7.
Marnie McBean of Toronto was fourth in a morning heat and came back to win
her repechage in 7:35.57.
