Canada suffers another tough loss

BLACKTOWN, Australia (AP) -- Brooke Wilkins pitched a one-hitter and Sally McCreedy went 2-for-3 on Tuesday as Australia remained undefeated with a 1-0 victory over Canada.

Wilkins, who pitched the last two innings of a combined no-hitter the previous night, extended her hitless streak to six innings before giving up Sommer West's single to lead off the fifth.

She struck out 11 and walked three.

Australia (3-0) broke a scoreless tie in the sixth when Sue Fairhurst singled and advanced to second on an error. Pinch-runner Selina Follas took third on McReedy's single and scored on a groundout.
