With its mix of swimming, cycling and running, an estimated 150,000 spectators will be on hand for the men's and women's triathlon. And no better place to compete in than Sydney.
The course represents a tour of some of Sydney's most scenic sites. First, the swimming leg of the competition in Sydney Harbour's Farm Cove.
The cycling course travels down Macquarie Street around to Art Gallery Road and past the landmark Art Gallery of New South Wales to Mrs Maquarie's Point. It next reaches the College Street turnaround and heads back up Macquarie Street to the Opera House.
The running circuit hugs the foreshore of Farm Cove as it winds towards Mrs Macquarie's Point and on to the College Street turnaround, then along Macquarie Street to the Opera House.
