Fantasy Recap: Apr. 13
By CHRIS NICHOLS -- SLAM! Sports
Boston 4 Montreal 3 2OT (Boston leads series 3-1)
Glen Murray and his line of Mike Knuble and Joe Thornton looked their old selves Tuesday, connecting for the game-tying goal in the third period and the game winner in overtime... Knuble has two goals in the series; Murray a goal and assist; Thornton no points - but five shots and some good hits in this game... Michael Nylander made a successful return to the lineup and scored a goal in the first period, giving him three goals and two assists in the three games he's played... Sergei Samsonov's has five points in the four games... Sergei Gonchar has three points and 11 SOG... Mike Ribeiro had two goals, but will still be known as a faker for years to come... Alex Kovalev couldn't shake off a slash on his wrist with a playoff game on the line, which led to Murray's game winner. Should it have been a penalty and was Kovy hurt? It doesn't matter. These are the playoffs - suck it up and hold onto the puck.
Nashville 3 Detroit 0 (Series tied 2-2)
Tomas Vokoun stopped all 41 shots he faced and looked every bit as amazing as he did during his hottest streak of the regular season... Steve Sullivan finally got a point in this series on a dandy breakaway move that beat Manny Legace to open the scoring... Scott Hartnell had another assist in Game Four and now has three points total... Matt Schneider had five shots on Vokoun, but he was also on the ice for every Nashville goal... Shanny had eight shots Tuesday and has 21 shots total, but has two assists and no goals in the series... Pavel Datsyuk has only one point in this series... Robert Lang had a goal waved off thanks to a goaltender interference call... Detroit scored once in two games in Nashville... Curtis Joseph came in after Nashville's third goal and we could see him in net for Game Five Thursday in Detroit.
San Jose 4 St. Louis 3 (San Jose leads series 3-1)
Scott Thornton had a pair of goals in this game and now has three points total... Jonathan Cheechoo assisted on both of Thornton's goals and also has three points... Alex Korolyuk scored twice in this game... After having a great regular season, Brad Stuart only has one point in four games... Former first round pick Kyle McLaren had a couple of assists in this game... Doug Weight scored a key goal for St. Louis late in the game on the power play, but it was not enough for the Blues... Chris Pronger has but one assist in this series, but has 16 PIM's... Keith Tkachuk has two assists, but has yet to find the net himself... Pavol Demitra's goal was his first point of the series, one of many reasons the Blues are in a big hole.
Calgary 4 Vancouver 0 (Series tied 2-2)
Aside from the opening game where he gave up five goals, Kipper has only let three shots past him in the last three games... 25 points was the total for Chris Clark this season, but he came through with his first two points of the series in this game... Poolsters love that Jarome Iginla picked up an empty netter... Stephane Yelle got into the lineup and scored a key SHG... Markus Naslund was held without a point for the first time... Geoff Sanderson has done zip in the way of points so far... The Sedin twins have two points total in the series... Johan Hedberg made 28 saves in his first start of the playoffs since Dan Cloutier went down with the injury.
