Fantasy Recap: Apr. 20

By CHRIS NICHOLS -- SLAM! Sports

Toronto 4 Ottawa 1 (Toronto wins series 4-3)

Patrick Lalime - what was that? Rough game for Lalime, who had an otherwise solid series... Ed Belfour, on the other hand, was phenomenal throughout and should give the Flyers a handful in the second round... Joe Nieuwendyk scored twice on goals Lalime would love to have back and Nieuwy finished the series with five goals and no assists... Bryan McCabe (1G, 1A) had four points against Ottawa... Brian Leetch's assist gives him four in the seven games... Nik Antropov had assists in the first and last game of the series, sandwiching a bunch of penalties in between... Chad Kilger doesn't get too many points, but he had 1G, 1A Tuesday night... Alex Mogilny had one assist and only 8 SOG in the entire series... Aside from his opening night two-goal game, Marian Hossa only had 1G, 1A the rest of the way as each of the Sens struggled to beat Belfour... Peter Bondra was pointless and -4 altogether... Radek Bonk didn't score against Toronto, but did have a couple of assists... The bottom line is that too many Sens had not enough points in this series and one way or another, a few changes will have to be made this summer... Imagine how different and improved an already strong Toronto team will look with Owen Nolan in the lineup... Despite being a healthy scratch for several games of this series, don't forget about Jason Spezza on draft day next year - he should improve by another ten points...With the Leafs winning this series, I pulled out a seven-for-eight prediction performance in the first round with my Western bracket still in tact (See April 6th column in my archives) and would have been perfect, had it not been for the gargantuan choke of the B's.

In addition to analyzing fantasy hockey for us, Chris also writes a weekly column for ESPN's fantasy hockey section during the regular season and periodically during the rest of the year. He can also be found at Mckeenshockey.com, where his News & Notes section is featured seven days a week through the end of the playoffs.
