Donald Farley of Lorraine, Que., qualified for Canada's Olympic team to highlight a strong 1996-97 campaign at both the international and national level. The nine-year national team veteran registered two respectable top-40 finishes at the world championships in Trondheim, Norway and dominated the Jeep Senior Nationals with four gold medals. His goal is to post consistent top-30 results in the 97-98 season and he hopes to crack the top-16 at the 1998 Olympics Games in Nagano. Regarded as a perfectionist, Farley has greatly improved since he moved to Canmore, Alta., in 1992. In Canmore he was particularly impressed with the dryland training program in the off-season. Now considered Canada's top male cross country skier it's been a long haul for the 26-year-old Farley but he's understood that patience is a virtue in this sport. "Getting good results in cross country skiing is a slow process," he said. "But with perseverance and a strong coach, I am certain that we will succeed. The strong calibre of the team motivates me." |
