RRenner, Fortier the cut
MONT-STE-ANNE, Que., (CP) -- Sara Renner from Canmore, Alta., and Edmonton's Jaime Fortier were named to Canada's Olympic cross-country ski team Sunday after the eastern Canadian championships.
They join Beckie Scott, of Vermilion, Alta., and Milaine Theriault of St. Quentin, N.B., on the team bound for the Olympics in Nagano, Japan, in February.
Renner and Fortier, both 21, finished second and third behind Scott, who won the women's 10-kilometre pursuit Sunday in a time of 46 minutes and 17 seconds.
In the men's 15-kilometre pursuit, Chris Blanchard of Pointe-Claire, Que., overtook Calgary's Robin McKeever in the final lap to win in a time of 69:44.4. Both men have qualified for the Olympics.
The final two positions on the men's Olympic team will be determined at nationals in Canmore, Alta., Jan. 17-22.
