Saturday, April 11, 1998Bidding war on for BatistutaFLORENCE, Italy (AP) -- Striker Gabriel Batistuta, who's expected to lead Argentina's offence at the World Cup in France, confirmed published reports that Italian first-division Parma "and several other teams" are seeking him for the next season."Parma is not the only team courting me," Batistuta was quoted by Milan's Gazzetta dello Sport as saying. The Argentine forward, currently playing with his long-time team Fiorentina, said he would decide his future after the World Cup finals. An extension of his contract with Fiorentina is also possible, Batistuta said.
