Chile does serious preparation for France
SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) -- Chile hopes to play about a dozen games over
the next six months as it prepares for the World Cup in France next summer.
The games will be played in three segments, starting with five matches
in the next 35 days: two in a four-team tournament in Hong Kong and then
friendlies against New Zealand, Australia and England.
It expects to play four games at home, possibly against Brazil,
Argentina, Mexico and Colombia. Dates in April against Belgium and Portugal also
are possible.
It will conclude its preparation with a final series of games
immediately before the World Cup, likely facing Tunisia, Morocco and Bulgaria.
The only confirmed matches so far are two in the tournament Jan. 22-31
in Hong Kong, a four-team event involving Nigeria, Iran and Hong Kong, and the
matches in Oceania and England.
