Suarez was a member of the team which was defeated by Brazil in the quarter-finals. The spokesman, who was unable to give any details about the drug involved, said FIFA had contacted the organizing committee of the cup competition to obtain its members' opinions before deciding how to proceed. The spokesman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Suarez had come to Zurich on Tuesday or Wednesday without being requested to do so by FIFA. He was accompanied by the general secretary of the Mexican football association. The drugs test was carried out on the player as part of normal practice in FIFA-organized competitions, the spokesman said.
