Kanu added to Nigerian roster
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) -- Nwankwo Kanu, the former African player of the year who appears to have fully recovered from heart surgery, was picked Thursday for Nigeria's World Cup roster.Kanu plays for UEFA Cup winner Internazionale of Milan along with Nigerian teammate Taribo West. The team also includes Victor Ikpeba, who helped AS Monaco reach the semifinal of the European Champions Cup.
Ajax Amsterdam star Tijani Babangida, Chelsea's Celestine Babayero and Finidi George of Real Betis are back, along with others from the team that helped Nigeria win the Olympic gold medal two years ago: Augustine Okocha, Sunday Oliseh, Daniel Amokachi and Uche Okochukwu.
