Injury takes Conceicao off World Cup team
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP) -- Defender Flavio Conceicao was dropped from Brazil's World Cup roster on Thursday because of ligament injury in his right knee and was replaced by Ze Carlos.After receiving results of an MRI, team physician Dr. Lidio Toledo consulted with a specialist who recommended Conceicao be dropped. Conceicao had been expected to back up both Cesar Sampaio and Cafu.
Conceicao, who plays with Deportivo de La Coruna in Spain, became the second player to be cut from Brazil's team. Marcio Santos was droppd after a leg mscle injury.
