No sleep for Cup travellers
TOKYO (AP) -- If you're going to the World Cup, who needs sleep?
A tour designed especially for workaholic but soccer-loving Japanese spans three days but
leaves out hotel accommodations.
The itinerary: leave on a chartered flight Saturday, arrive Sunday morning at Toulouse
airport, go by bus to the stadium, watch the Argentina-Japan game, get back on the bus, depart France
that same evening, arrive Monday night in Japan to be back at work Tuesday morning.
Some 700 people applied for the 290-member 255,000 yen ($2,800 Cdn) tour -- about 70,000
yen ($770) cheaper than tours with hotel fares.
But the main attraction is that travelers only have to take Monday off, says Japan Travel
Bureau spokeswoman Jun Watanabe.
More than 30,000 Japanese are expected to travel to France this summer to root for their
team making its World Cup debut.
