Time running out for Wright
LONDON (AP) -- Arsenal striker Ian Wright has only a few games to win a place on England's
side for the World Cup.
Wright, 34, who has been out since January with an injury, will start on Wednesday for the
new Premier League champions against Liverpool.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger gave Wright his full-fledged endorsement.
"I still think Ian has a lot to offer. He says he wants to stay at Arsenal for two more
years and be a reserve if necessary. But I think, if anything, he is being a little too humble at
present.
"He knows that at his age he will not play all the games next season, but I think he can
still be ready to fight for a place and I am happy to have his commitment."
